IC6 PM Offer from Meta! Here’s How This Client Did It

Celebrating a Successful IC6 PM Offer from Meta!

My client and I are celebrating their IC6 PM offer from Meta, for a specialist role so they don’t have to go through many months of Team Matching! 🎉

Crafting a Stakeholder-Heavy Narrative

This is a stakeholder-heavy role, so we spent a lot of time crafting narratives that highlight their relevant experiences in not just managing stakeholders, but also:

  • Influencing decision-makers at all levels,
  • And at the same time demonstrating a strong culture fit and alignment

The Right Mindset: Finding Your New Tribe

Mindset wise: the job search process is about finding a new tribe and getting them to welcome you into their already-established tribe.

With this mindset in place, the tactics that follow are all about framing your experiences and superpowers in ways that resonate with this tribe’s values and needs.

Tactical Approach: Speaking Meta’s Language

We worked on internalizing Meta’s values and language, in order to tailor their responses using Meta’s terminology.

Overlaying Experiences with Company Terminology

When you overlay your target company’s terminology with your experiences:

  • Your skills will be presented in ways that resonate with the interviewers,
  • You will connect with them on a deeper level,
  • You will make your responses more relatable to the company’s context.

How This Approach Helps You Stand Out

When you speak their language, you can significantly improve your chances in establishing an emotional connection in deeper ways than other candidates, and that is how you stand out.

Once a month, on the last Monday of the month, a small group PMs targeting L7-L9 roles gathers on Zoom to ask me and my partner Amit Saxena (ex Meta Director) anything.

What does "great" actually sound like at this level? How do you frame cross-org impact without sounding junior? What's the real difference between an L6 and an L7-L9 answer?

Nothing is off limits.

The next one is next Monday, would you like to join us?
