A few years ago, I faced the most pivotal interview of my career. It wasn’t for a new job, it was to save the one I had and loved at Meta.
My position was being eliminated, and I had to go through the Meta PM interview loop again, one that I had failed multiple times before….
The stakes couldn’t have been higher.
- The pressure was immense.
- The uncertainty was suffocating.
- And the self-doubt kept me up at night.
Eventually, I cracked the interview, retained my role, and discovered a crucial insight about success at L6+ levels:
Behavioral interviews aren’t about reciting a perfect script under pressure.
Most candidates assume they need to be perfect, but what actually moves the needle is your strategic and authentic communication skills.
That experience planted the seed for my coaching journey, helping others navigate high-stakes, senior-level loops.
Since then, I’ve also interviewed 200+ PM candidates at Meta, including leadership interviews, looking for signals like how you lead yourself and how you lead others.
Are you replicating success, or just hoping to?
Here’s something you may not realize when prepping for L6+ roles: There’s a “secret metric” you likely haven’t considered.
It’s not how many mocks you do. It’s not how many hours you spend memorizing stories.
The real measure of success is: “How quickly can you replicate great answers that truly speak to an L6+ bar?”
In other words, do you understand what “amazing” communication looks like at a senior level, and can you deliver that consistently, even under intense interview pressure?
Traditional methods rely on endless one-off mocks, hoping you eventually stumble onto something “good enough.”
That might yield improvements, but it rarely unlocks genuine confidence.
You’re always reacting, never proactively knowing how to shine.
I advocate a simpler path. One that addresses the real reason behind interviews: demonstrating leadership-level communication.
After all, every time you improve your interview communication, you also level up your leadership communication on the job.
It’s a flywheel effect: the confidence you gain in while leveling-up your interview prep translates into stronger stakeholder alignment and more compelling storytelling at work, fueling even greater clarity for future interviews!
That’s why I decided to hold a FREE workshop focusing on senior-level behavioral interviews, where I’ll share:
- Proven strategies for acing L6+ behavioral loops.
- How to know if your answers actually meet that senior bar.
- A clear, fuss-free way to focus on what truly matters, without endless generic mocks.
