$512K Offer! Here's The Strategy Behind It

πŸ₯‚ Today we are celebrating a client who landed a $512K offer in total comp ($287K base, $900K equity over 4 years)!

When we first met, they
β€’ were primarily practicing with friends
β€’ couldn't find interview resources meant for PMs with more than 10 YOE

They also had the tendency to be verbose in their communication,
β€’ which made it hard for them to articulate deep and strategic thoughts.

We worked on elevating their answers to actually represent their seniority.

The BLUF (bottom line up front) technique worked well for them, it
β€’ captures the interviewer's attention quickly
β€’ and demonstrates deep, strategic thinking from the start.

We worked on zooming out, even in Analytical rounds,
β€’ which added more signals that they are a deep strategic thinker.

Across all interview types (behavioral, presentations, cases),
β€’ we worked on articulating their thoughts clearly and succinctly.

This means not over-indexing on providing tactical and detail-oriented responses, but focusing on deeper analysis that demonstrates strategic thinking. πŸ‘

As a result:
β€’ Their ideas flowed naturally and clearly
β€’ Their authentic strategic presence shined through
β€’ They had the confidence in showcasing senior-level expertise

The interview preparation journey largely has 2 components:
‒ 20% on acquiring knowledge about best practices, frameworks, and examples
β€’ 80% on applying that knowledge

The 80% is the part that can take a lot of candidates 6-9+ months on their own.

And one of the fastest ways to accelerate your time to a L6+ offer is to increase the quality of the 80%, so that it doesn't take as long.

The quality of your preparation matters more than just the hours you put in.

Your path can be shorter when you have clarity on your gaps and know precisely what to focus on.

A shorter path, and shorter time to offer means decreasing your opportunity cost.

I've helped many clients gain this clarity and accelerate their journey to L6+ offers.

Once a month, on the last Monday of the month, a small group PMs targeting L7-L9 roles gathers on Zoom to ask me and my partner Amit Saxena (ex Meta Director) anything.

What does "great" actually sound like at this level? How do you frame cross-org impact without sounding junior? What's the real difference between an L6 and an L7-L9 answer?

Nothing is off limits.

The next one is next Monday, would you like to join us?
